Final image (cropped) after noise reduction. But by carefully composing sharpened areas back into the original it does a great job of making the out-of-focus original seem sharper. When applied overall to an image there were often artifacts created somewhere. Less amazing was the Focus function, designed to improve focus in images that are soft to begin with. The Stabilize sliders allow you to reverse motion blur created when hand-holding at slower shutter speeds, and I found the results truly amazing. I found that with the careful choice of slider positions in Sharpen AI, you are easily able to sharpen images, including fine detail, without creating artifacts.īut sharpening is only one function of Sharpen AI. Those programs that deal with fine detail too often sharpen noise, or create haloing and other artifacts. Most sharpening programs simply enhance edge contrast without regard to fine detail. The software outputs a DNG file that allows you to apply the full range of RAW file controls to the image rather than the limited controls available to a JPEG file. JPEG to RAW AI removes compression artifacts, improves details, and enhances dynamic range in JPEG files.Gigapixel AI is able to increase image resolution by up to 600 percent, realistically.DeNoise AI removes image noise while preserving image detail.Sharpen AI is not only able to sharpen image information without sharpening noise, it also has the fairly amazing ability to improve out-of-focus images and reduce shake in hand-held captures.Read: 16 Software Editing Programs for Every Skill Level What’s New in Photo Editing All four function as stand-alone programs while Sharpen and DeNoise also function as plug-ins for Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, and Topaz Studio. They are available individually for $80 (DeNoise and Sharpen) or $100 (Gigapixel and JPEG to RAW) or as a bundle for $250. ![]() The workflow-smart programs are Sharpen AI, DeNoise AI, Gigapixel AI, and JPEG to RAW AI. (For a sense of how you can teach software to learn how to make pleasing images, check out this article from our sister pub.) Topaz Labs has recently introduced four new software products that have been subjected to from many thousands to reportedly millions of test images and has “taught” the software to produce results that users would want to make workflow more efficient. Existing users who own all three applications and are within an upgrade cycle will be pleased to learn they have a free Photo AI license waiting for them in their account (I just got mine)! Those who own all three but who are not in an upgrade cycle can purchase a Product Upgrade Plan for $99 and receive Photo AI.Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the latest buzzword in the image enhancement lexicon. Additional licenses can be purchased for $99. Pricing for new customers will be $199, but until October 7, you can enjoy a $40 discount, bringing the price to $159. Topaz Photo AI is available for both macOS and Windows users. The program even allows you to batch-process image sets, automatically applying the optimal individual adjustments to each. ![]() Photo AI solves these problems and streamlines the entire workflow by putting all the tools in one place and reducing the need for the user to guess the right combination of settings. However, before Photo AI, users would have to bounce between programs, and it wasn't always clear what the best order for top image quality was. Topaz users are already familiar with DeNoise AI for reducing noise, Sharpen AI for removing blur, and Gigapixel AI for increasing resolution. ![]() Photo AI works by analyzing each image individually and using the best methods to increase resolution, detail, and clarity, but Autopilot takes it even further, automatically choosing the best models and optimal settings, removing the trial and error that sometimes came with older workflows. It brings with it a new "Autopilot" function and better raw workflow along with all of the company's most popular features. Photo AI automatically detects and fixes issues in photos by leveraging deep learning and trained AI models.
